Graduation day is fast approaching. The season is already upon us; everywhere you see school children (some of them won’t be that for very long) strutting about excitedly, some can be seen quietly crying in the corner, some are clearly holding their tears back, so much so that you can see your own reflection in their eyes, and some are walking with their chins held up high, proud of their scholastic achievements. Everywhere you see the season of graduation is making its presence felt. But where did all the years go, you ask yourself. Wasn’t it only yesterday that you had that big fight with Elizabeth? But when you start counting, you show eight fingers; one for every year! And wasn’t just a couple of days ago that you had that big laugh about that something? This time, you show three fingers. Where, oh where, did all the years go? You never thought you and your mates would ever have to don those graduation caps and gowns; they have always been for the seniors! But, the more you look about you the more you realize that not only are you a senior now, you are at the fag-end of being a senior. Soon you will be presented with academic gowns for graduation and leather bound graduation diplomas and you will be, very politely, asked to leave the school premises.
Sure, that is not a pretty thought, especially if you are attached to your school and your school life. It is perfectly understandable if you are in that position. After all, you will never get to live the life of a school student, for being a student in college is different; it has its good bits, but it is different nonetheless. During such times, even the sigh of graduation caps and gowns can be nerve wrecking. My advice? Let the tears flow, it will do you good. Bottling up your fears and emotions is not a good thing. If you feel saddened at departing from school, then let it be known to the world. This time had to come sooner or later, and it comes in everybody’s life, so you are not alone. Sharing your inner feelings will help you connect with others who are on the same boat. Don’t be afraid to put on that dark graduation gowns and caps (caps and gowns for high school graduation tend to come in darker shades, but it is not a requirement). What lay behind you was full of joy, I am certain, but it does not do to live in the past and have no hope for the future. Look beyond the horizon and you will see good things waiting for you on the other side.
Remember, life on the other side of graduation can be as sweet as what lay before. It is the person that makes the moments, thus the fun moments will always come as long as the person is there to receive them.

Both Bachelors’ and masters’ gowns in the United States are comparable to their counterparts in the United Kingdom, while bachelor’s graduation cap and gown are now considered to be worn closed, and all are slightest mid-calf length to ankle-length. The masters’ gown sleeve is four-sided figure and, though the base of the sleeve hangs down in the distinctive manner, it is rectangle cut at the rear part of the four-sided figure shape. The front piece has an arc cut away, and there is a cut for the wrist opening, but the rest of the arc is closed. The shape is redolent of the square-cut lairize built into many academic hoods (see, below). The master’s gown is considered to be worn open or closed.

Doctoral robes are generally black, although, a few schools use robes in the school’s colors because they are preschool graduation gowns and cheap graduation gown. The Code calls for the exterior shell of the hood to continue black in that case, however. In common, doctoral gowns are like to the gowns worn by bachelor’s graduates, with the adding up three velvet bands on the sleeves and velvet facing in a row in the front of the gown, the Code calls for these to be moreover black or the color chosen for the field of study in which the doctorate was earned.

On the other hand, it should be well-known that in the case of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), even if it is awarded for study in any number of fields, the dark blue velvet of philosophy is constantly used in spite of the particular field studied. The robes have full sleeves, as a replacement of the bell sleeves of the bachelor’s gown. Some gowns represent a necktie or cravat when closed, whereas others take an almost cape-like form. The exceptions are for men in a baccalaureate service, and in the national anthem (“The Star-Spangled Banner”), any sanction that may be vacant by a chaplain or other authority, and at the times of singing the alma mater if the local ritual requires it. It is considered to be worn open or closed in the frontage.

Headwear is a significant component of gown, and the academic costume does not complete without it. The headwear will differ with the level of academic success and, to some level, on the individual academic institution’s qualifications.
The mortarboard is suggested in the Code, and the material required matching the gown which you are wearing which is an important part. The exclusion velvet is kept back for the doctor’s degree only, seen in the form of a multiple-sided (4, 6, or tam, but the four-sided mortarboard-shaped tam in velvet is what the Code seems too suggested here. The colour is black and no other colour.

Looking for different avenues such as university bursaries to finance a degree is difficult and time-consuming. These scholarships are not the same as a student loan in that the funds are a grant, and, repayment isn't necessary...

Determining a way to finance a college degree can be problematic and will take time. University scholarships are unlike a student loan because they are a grant for education, so it does not have to be paid back. While searching means of funding a higher education, look into the more different options, for instance financing for southpaw scholars.

Funding for Southpaws

A lefty grant may seem a little bit crazy, but do consider these facts: Bill Gates is a left hander, as is Barack Obama. Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, Bob Dylan not to mention were also left-handed. Figures suggest up to 11% of the population are left handed. Often considered much more artistic and to have a higher Intelligence Quotient, left-handers have frequently experienced discrimination in the past. Today, lefties are no longer stigmatised or thought of as odd, in fact they may even be linked with the famous individuals mentioned previously.

There are numerous funds available for left handed individuals if you know where to look. The Beckley Scholarship for up to $1,000 is available at Juniata College stuated in Huntington, PA. Presented to pupils attending Juniata College and it was set up in 1979, this particular grant helps a lot of southpaws through school. When you are looking for scholarships, do be aware that a few scholarships may have requirements and restrictions. Sometimes certain grades can be necessary or certain financial guidelines have to be satisfied. Apply for as many school scholarships as feasible to increase your odds of graduating with a negligible level of debt. Consider local organisations, societies and groups connected to hobbies. Grants for southpaw students are just one illustration; funding is likewise available if you are a child of a veteran or suffer from a disability, to offer some examples.

Be sure to review our terrific webpage for African American grants for school ideas

Most people have to invest a little time searching for scholarships, nonetheless the reward will always be valuable. Along with student loans, they are efficient in cutting the student debt generated by a university education. Ensure you enquire into every last suitable grant. Remember there are different choices in addition to southpaw grants — put together a list of all your local affiliations and don’t forget to make use of your creativity. If you guess you may be suitable, then go for it, keeping your tutition costs minimal, additionally you will very likely be looking at better prospects when you eventually leave school.

Homeschool Spanish! 3 simple keys to liven up the lessons
Are you interested in making the Spanish learning in your home more exciting?

If your kids are studying outside the home, do you feel they need a more lively approach to keep them interested?

Homeschool Spanish can be tough. Many levels to teach, boring and repetitive materials and no connection to the language all make for a tough going.

The thing is, as a Homeschooling parent, you’re used to making things come alive.

You bake a cake and make a math lesson out of it. You walk in the park,
discover plants and learn about science.

But fear not. I’m about to show you how you can add three tricks to your homeschool Spanish atmosphere that will get your creative juices flowing and help you liven up your lessons.

Key #1 – Bring Spanish to life in your home

Any child wants (and needs) to feel connected to what they’re learning. That’s why homeschooling is such a blessing. Those connections are real easy when you’re the one in charge.

Well, why not start to incorporate some common expressions into your daily routine and see how things go. Here a starter list of phrases you can use with your child.

- No me digas! – You’re kidding!
– Qué va! – No way!
– No quiero – I don’t want to (a biggie with the younger ones)
– Qué pasa aqu? – What’s going on here?

Naturally there are more but, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. One expression every couple of days will be enough to get them involved…and you too.

In fact, the whole family can start creating typical phrases that can be used day in and day and allow your homeschool Spanish experience to grow like a freshly watered plant.

Key #2 – Serve it up in ways your kids like it.
Most kids love music, TV or reading. So why not try to include a little
of each into your Spanish lessons.

For example, for the little ones, there are educational programs (ex. Dora The Explorer)
on TV that attempt to use Spanish in a fun and informative way.

If your children are in their teens, you can find Spanish music that’s similar to their
tastes. You can find any type of music online or ask in your local music store. Then,
once you have the music, you can use the lyrics to study the words,
the expressions or the tenses.

Reading is no different. You can find bilingual texts of Dr. Seuss’ series or
Clifford the Big Red Dog for the little ones and similar titles for the older kids.
Just go online at Google or check your local library.

Key #3 – Find a great idea and copy it
This is important because it saves you the most time and money.

If you’re the teacher and the material is a little…dry,
go out and look for resources that have innovative, “outside-the-box” approaches to learning. They don’t have to be language texts. The idea is to find an approach you like and copy it.

Go browse some local bookstores or libraries. Go surfing on the internet. If you like what you see, study it a bit and think of ways to use the same technique in your Spanish lessons.

Here’s an example: Vocabulary Cartoons is a wonderful book that uses mnemonics and visuals to memorize SAT words. Well, why not use the same technique to memorize Spanish words?

If you think you like the resource, make sure it has a guarantee (the longer the better) so you can try it at home.

This whole process doesn’t have to cost any money and will certainly save you time thinking up new ways to inject excitement into your homeschool Spanish lessons.

As a Homeschooling parent, you have options a public school teacher doesn’t have. Why not take advantage of them?

And remember, if your kids are learning outside the home, you can find something fun to use with them so that they maintain their interest through the year.

Jim Sarris, author of Comic Mnemonics, has created a resource for homeschool families that makes learning Spanish fun and easier using visuals and mnemonics. For free samples and video tutorial, visit http://www.learnspanishfaster.com/homeschoolspanish.html
