Can You Repair Bad Credit?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Negative credit can be devastating to your financial position, in that it gives you an adverse influence; it can also, at times, be trouble for you if you buy on credit or get a loan. A low credit rating also results in a high fee being levied, thus extending the overall debt.
In such cases, people usually resort to credit repair services, and generally end up paying high charges to settle bad credit. There are other ways to fix bad credit; and they happen to be easy as well as free.

To begin with, find out the exact cause of your bad credit. It is not feasible to repair bad credit until you’re completely knowledgeable of the reason you got into it. A few likely causes for this situation could be a deferred payment of a loan; maybe some unexpected events such as medical bills, job difficulties, etc.

Once you’ve established the core cause to your problem, work your way towards the centre and focus on a fix that’s practical and effective. Get an idea of your present-day financial status by examining your recent credit reports. Make sure you’re keeping track of existing credits and financial dealings. Use the latest statements from your creditors or yearly credit reports to judge your financial position.

To actually repair your bad credit and get your financial status back in a positive standing, you need to start supervising your expenses and adjust your lifestyle. Don’t delay paying your bills. If you can, pay them as soon as they arrive. This will avoid late payment charges, if in case an unforseen problem comes up and prevents you from paying your bills on time. Cut down your credit card expenses as much as you can. To some, this might feel laughable, but if you look back, you’ll understand that the ancient people lived a better life than we do today, and they did not use credit cards. Consistency in bill payments is the vital point here. Slowly pay up all your credit bills and you’ll eventually repair your financial standing.

People often suggest that you talk to your creditors. If you pull the right strings and bargain wisely, you could get discounts, instead of surcharges. Be positive and precautious. While negotiating with your creditors is not a surefire way of repairing bad credit, it certainly can be efficient.

Prevention is the best method. Instead of having to face bad credit, why not prevent it in the first place? Pay your bills on time, do not delay credit payments, and don’t use your credit card for each and every transaction. However, if you do fall into a bad credit situation, then abide by the tips above. Bad credit can at times hurt your social profile and hinder access to loans on convenient terms, mortgages, etc.

Why?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

Honestly, I am sick to death of the eternal squabbling between science and religion.
Religion is a methodology that has been constructed to enable humans to
understand their place in the universe. Science is a methodology that has been
constructed to enable humans to understand their place in the universe. There are
similarities in the limitations of both systems of thought. In some sense, science
and religion are the same. In my opinion, the most important discovery in science is
that there are things that we cannot ever know about the universe. This is neatly
paralleled in most theistic thinking, that we cannot truly know God. He is a mystery
that cannot be fully comprehended.

Let’s start with science. The central tenets of mathematics, physics, cosmology,
biology etc., are not invented by human endeavour. They are discovered. They exist
independently of humans. The universal layers of opacity have, over hundreds if not
thousands of years, been slowly and painstakingly removed by scientists in all
fields, to reveal ever more clearer views of not only what our universe is, but how it
is. The problem is that these systems do not attempt to explain why it is.

Some people think the whys of the universe are inappropriate even irrelevant
questions for scientists to try and answer, but this is just disingenuousness. The
most important thing people want to know about the universe, about their lives,
about themselves, about their place in the world is, why?

I can reasonably ask why the charge on the electron or the gravitational constant
have the very exact values they do. Why is the speed of light what it is? Why can’t
the position and momentum of a particle be determined simultaneously (yes, I know
what happens but why does it happen)? Why did the big bang um… bang, and so
on.

The usual scientific reactions remind me of my childhood and the echoes of my
mother saying in final exasperation after many ‘whys?’ “There is no reason, that’s
just the way it is! You have to take my word for it.” Or “It’s just a coincidence.” Just a
moment now, lets move over to religion and the question of faith. When scientists
ask (or even tell us) to accept that there are no reasons for an event like the big
bang, no reasons for the universe to exist and can you please just stop asking such
nonsensical questions? Scientists are ignoring the really big questions, the why?
questions and in the process risk being dogmatic in the same way as certain
religionists are (dogma: principle, tenet, doctrinal system laid down by some
authority).

With the above in mind however, I have no time for the Creationist ‘philosophy’
currently sweeping the U.S. Evolution is a fact. And what is more, scientific
investigations produce facts about our universe. Now, while scientists
understandably do not want to engage with Creationists there is still much
intelligent and constructive debate to be had. It seems to me that why the universe
is as it is, is as interesting and viable a field of scientific exploration as it gets.

The thing is, I am not talking about superstition or religious belief here (let’s put
aside the invidious point of view that religion is the cause of all strife in the world
because no actually, people are the cause of all strife in the world). I’m not
interested in converting anyone to anything. No, what I’m talking about is this. With
intelligent objectivity I have arrived at a point of view that says something very
’spooky’ has been going on in our universe, our world if you will, and coincidence as
an argument for things being precisely as they are is just not going to cut it. People
want to know why they are here and so do many scientists I suspect. It is a
legitimate question to ask even if the possible answer may scare the hell out of
some scientists.

Now I must come clean. I don’t have so much as a belief in science as have a
profound knowledge that what it reveals about the universe is true. I don’t so much
as believe in God as have a profound knowledge of His existence. The latter has
come about exactly because of the former. I haven’t got the space to explain how
that happened, just go and read science books like Simon Conway Morris’s amazing
‘Life’s solution. Inevitable humans in a Lonely Universe’ or John Gribbin’s ‘Q is for
Quantum’ among many others, and you will be utterly astonished at how incredibly
unlikely it is that this universe exists in the state that it does, let alone that we are in
it.

But just imagine it, among all the wondrous insights that science has given me
about our beautiful universe, the biggest and most profound is the certainty of God.
Now why is that I wonder?

Zamboni Creates Magic at Hockey Games to the Disappointment of Parents

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Frank Zamboni created the world’s first ice resurfacing machine in the 1940’s and today Zamboni is the official ice resurfacing machine of the NHL as well as a magic saga.

For some reason the Zamboni often are more interesting to young kids than the actual NHL they are watching.

Many are the parents who have bought expensive tickets to let their kids experience a NHL game just to find out that the kids find it more interesting to watch the Zamboni out on the ice during the intermissions.

This must be very frustrating for a hockey loving dad who wants to get a cup of coffee between periods to stand and watch the Zamboni instead.

I actually remember one of the very first ice hockey games my dad brought me too. He met some old friends he hadn’t seen in quite a while and they agreed to have a chat during the first intermission.

My dad never got to talk ice hockey with his old friends that night because I didn’t leave my seat during the first break. I just sat there and watched the Zamboni refresh the ice as if the machine was the greatest hero in the world.

When the second break came I agreed to leave real short for some popcorn and dad was all happy to see his pals. His excitement soon disappeared when we couldn’t find them and we returned to our seats for the third period.

Now I am a hockey loving dad myself and maybe one day I will have the same trouble with my kid as dad had with me.

The Odd Seven Continents Theory

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Viewed from space, the Earth appears to have four or five major landmass areas depending on your viewpoint. Despite this, we hold on to the illusion there are more continents.

As we all learned in grade school, there are seven continents. A quick look at a globe, however, reveals this basic assumption is just flat wrong. In particular, how can Europe be considered a continent when there is no clear division with Russia?

To the surprise of many, the Arctic is not classified as a continent. Instead, it is divided up between North America and Asia. Yes, Asia because Russia is considered to be part of it in the seven continents model. Following are the accepted seven continents in alphabetical order.

Africa is undeniably a continent by any definition. It is also the second largest one as a measure of landmass, covering over 11,700,000 square miles and making up 5.9 percent of the total surface of the Earth. As a measure of population, Africa is second most populous continent with over 840 million people.

Antarctica is also considered a continent, if a particularly barren one. 98 percent of Antarctica is covered in ice and it is the only continent neither considered a country nor claimed by any other country.

Based on sheer size, Asia is the dominant continent in the world. It has the largest landmass area and is home to over 60 percent of all humans. Talk about traffic jams! In truth, the measurements on Asia can be a bit misleading. Under the seven continents methodology, Asia extends over much of Russia, the Mideast and even parts of Egypt.

Often referred to as the forgotten continent, Australia is the fourth continent. Incorrectly referred to as an island for significant periods of history, Australia is undoubtedly a continent. That being said, it is the smallest in landmass with just more than 4,000,000 square miles, but has a healthy population of over 20 million people.

Europe is also considered a continent, but there is little geographic evidence supporting this claim. The continental designation is primarily a political and historical development. Regardless, Europe covers an area of 4 million square miles, but is heavily populated with over eleven percent of the world population at 705 million people.

North America is our next continent. Once again, we run into the practical issue of boundaries. Using the seven continent methodology, North America extends into the arctic as expected, but is also considered to include much of Central America. The total landmass is 9.45 million square miles. 514 million people are estimated to live in North America.

Our final continent is South America. Covering 6.9 million square miles, South America covers 3.5 percent of the total surface of the Earth. With a population of 371 million people, it ranks as the fifth most populous nation.

The misleading nature of the seven continent theory has to do with Europe. If the countries of Europe weren’t such powerful entities through history, would we really consider it a continent? Not likely!

Globally Glaciers Are Receding at a Horrific Pace

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Everywhere glaciers are melting at a greater rate than at any time since measurements began, reports The Independent. Glaciologists from the World Glacier Monitoring Service, which records 33 glaciers in 10 mountain ranges, guage that from 1849 to 1972 glaciers receded at a median rate of 29 centimetres per annam. Between 1967 and 1997 the amount receding jumped to 65 – 85 centimeters per year. From then the avg. has been more than 1 metre a yr. And last season saw the biggest recedings thus far of 1.2 meters.

Worldwide glaciers are receding least ways as swiftly as those in this small representative group with potentially fatal consequences for close by communities. In the short term there could be more floodings, whilst in the long term, water supplies could dry out, meaning acute mains water shortfalls.

Chamonix village, has a large amount of glaciers, the outcomes of global warming and the receding of glaciers could be keenly found. Possibly this is why so many companies, and locals appear to be more cognizant of the topics so are therefore essaying to undertake measures to limit their carbon output. Hopefully it is not too little too late to arrest the effects of global climate change and insure an environment for our youngsters. So think about how you travel when you go to your ski accommodations.

Soccer The War Game! –Looking Back To Its Origin

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Believe it or not, but the modern day soccer owes its origin to the barbarous war mongering nature of human beings.

There is no proper documentation that can state the date and place of origination of the most popular modern day sportSoccer. However, depending on the socio-historical facts and data we can assume that some type of a ball game was played somewhere in this planet for at least over 3000years now.

The earliest evidence of soccer was found in Kyoto, Japan where a field marked to play a ball-kicking game was found.

There is also proper documentation that supports the fact that the Chinese military forces around 2nd and 3rd century BC (Han Dynasty) played a game that involved kicking a ball into a small net. This was then an essential skill building exercise for the armed forces.

Historical evidence also shows that some form of Soccer was played also by the Greeks and the Romans, however, the primitive form involved a larger team on each side. At times the team strength would go up even to around 27 people on each side. The Greeks were playing four different forms of the ball game, namely “Episkyros”, “Ourania”, “Pheninda” and “Keritizein”. Episkyros was the closest to football. In this 2 equally numbered teams, would try to throw the ball over the heads of the other team. There was a white line between the teams and another white line behind each team. Teams would change the ball often until one of the team is forced behind the line at their end.

Now, how many of you would believe that the modern day soccer actually originated as a war game?

Unbelievable, but true! The first Football (as Soccer is called in Britain) game was played by the locals of east of England, where they started a game, kicking around the severed head of a Danish prince whom they have defeated in a war. That marked the origination of Football as a war game.

After this, for a long time, football was played by rival towns and villages where the objective was to move the ball to a predetermined spot. Hundreds of people would take part in these games and a single game could last a whole day. Punching, kicking, biting , everything was allowed.

The savage nature of this form of football was not much appreciated by the rulers and the Royalty took all possible steps to stop these games. King Edward III of England, passed laws in 1331 to stop the game, he was followed by King James I of Scotland in 1424. The Queens were not far behind, rather, had a more strict approach. Queen Elizabeth I of England, enacted laws that could sentence a football player to jail for a week followed by penancing in a church.

However, in spite of all their best efforts and intentions they could not stop the game. It was too popular among the masses and they loved the game.

The first approach to regularize and give a civilized form to this game was taken by the famous Eton College of England in 1815 when they established a set of rules for the games. These rules were accepted by the other schools, colleges and universities. Later, in 1848, these rules were further standardized and a new version was adopted by all the schools, college and universities. This new set of rules was known as the Cambridge Rules.

At this stage, there were actually two set of rules that were being followed in this game. Some organizations preferred to follow the rules of the Rugby School, that allowed tripping, kicking and carrying the ball, whereas the Cambridge rules prohibited all this methods.

In October, 1863, The Football Association was formed, when eleven London schools and clubs came together to establish a single set of rules to administer any football match that were to be played among them. On 8 December 1863, Association Football and Rugby Football finally split onto two different organizations.

In 1869, these rules were further amended to exclude any handling of the ball beyond the scope of acceptability and that created the foundation for the modern day sports maniaSOCCER !

Telescopes – Principle of Operation and Factors that Affect Its Properties

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Telescopes are devices that are used to view the distant objects. They find its use in astronomy and physics. It enables you to view the distant objects by magnifying them. There are many types of telescopes and their prices vary according to the specifications. Many accessories are also available that can be used in conjunction with the telescopes. Small telescopes that are used as toys are also capable of viewing some objects around 50 meters away.

Principle in which the telescope works

The principle in which the telescope works is very simple. There are two lenses that make up the task of viewing the objects that are at a distance. One of the lenses picks up the light from the object viewed and makes it available at a focus point. Another lens picks up the bright light from the focus point and spreads it out to your retina so that you can view. The lens that picks up the light from the object is called the objective lens or primary mirror. The lens that picks up the light from the focal point is called the eyepiece lens.

Factors that affect the viewing of the object

The capability of the telescope to collect the light from the object that is viewed and the capability to enlarge the image are the factors that affect the efficiency of the telescope. The capability to collect light from the object depends on the diameter of the lens or mirror, which is otherwise called the aperture. The larger the aperture the more the light it can collect. Enlarging of an image depends on the combination of the lenses that are used. The eyepiece in the telescope performs the magnification.

Some of the world’s largest optical telescopes in operation

We say a telescope to be larger based on the aperture size. Based on this we can say that Keck and Keck II are the largest telescopes in operation with an aperture of 10 meters diameter. The Keck telescope is composed of 36 mirror segments. This is located at Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The next largest is Hobby-Eberly located at Mt. Fowlkes, Texas which has an aperture of 9.2 meters. You can get a list of the largest optical telescopes at http://astro.nineplanets.org/bigeyes.html.

Choosing your telescope

The choice of the telescope largely depends on what you want to observe. You can choose compound telescopes and refractor type of telescope for viewing through the urban skies. For the rural skies, you can use compound telescopes and reflectors. They are better than the refractors type of telescopes. Each type has its own advantages and disadvantages. Hence, many people have different telescope for different purposes.

Superultramodern Ethical / Aesthetical Relativism (SEAR)

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

According to Superultramodern Ethical/Aesthetical Relativism (SEAR) nothing is absolutely good or bad (or beautiful or ugly), but, as Shakespeare said, thinking makes it so. The novelty in SEAR is its foundations. A thinks C (say an idea) is good while B thinks C is bad. Now it seems that there can be no logical or conceptual criteria to determine if A, for example, is right or wrong. The law of syllogism ( if p implies q and q implies r then p implies r ), for example, is logically true in the sense that one ( at least I ) has to think ( apart from the principle of universal doubt ) that it is true and if someone thinks it to be false then it is his/her inability to see the truth in the law of syllogism or, more importantly, to understand what the law of syllogism states or the concepts it involves. So the principles like the law of syllogism are supposed to be eternal as they cannot be otherwise. They have to be the way they are forever, regardless of individual minds. However, this does not apply to ethical judgments, as one can reasonably think otherwise. The concepts good and bad allow far more flexibility, and if one, for example, thinks that it is good to hurt others for one’s own pleasure, this thinking involves no conceptual contradiction, as that is the way that person defines the concept of goodness. And how can there be any logical/conceptual/reasonable restriction on how one defines goodness or badness ? In case of the law of syllogism once we are clear about the terms p, q, r, and implication, the truth cannot logically/conceptually/ reasonably be denied. Ethical concepts are thus vague concepts. Concepts like implication, on the other hand, are concrete or clear. ( It is a different thing that if we mean to call dog, for example, as implication then it is a mere attaching of the label ‘implication’ to the concept of dog as ‘dog’ is also nothing but a label attached to some concept. )

In this particular world majority of people more or less agree on ethical definitions because their minds are constructed that way ( i.e. Programs are created to generate appropriate states of consciousness.) In the NSTP ( Non – Spatial Thinking Process ) theoretical terms if the non – spatial universal program is changed people would disagree or think different way/s.

SEAR is a component of Superultramodern Science (SS).

Treadmill Ratings – What Most People Don’t Know About Treadmill Ratings

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

If you’re buying a treadmill, chances are you’ll want to research before you buy. Everyone wants to get the best deal for a discount price. They also want to find the best treadmill to suit their workout needs.

So you’ll probably be interested in looking at various treadmill ratings or reviews. But why are there so many different ratings and which one is the most accurate? Here’s a few things most buyers don’t know about treadmill ratings.

There are 2 types of treadmill ratings:

1) Consumer Ratings

2) Expert Ratings

User Treadmill Ratings:

Consumer treadmill ratings are done by the layperson who has bought and used the specific treadmill. Many websites allow anyone to go online and post a review of their treadmill.

Customer reviews and ratings can be very valuable when searching for a treadmill – however keep in mind several things:

#1) No treadmill has a 100% perfect track record. Even the BEST treadmill manufacturers sometimes make a dud.

And it’s usually the people that have BAD experiences that leave negative reviews of their treadmills, not the many that have had good experiences with the same treadmill.

They have every right to do this and hopefully the treadmill manufacturers read these reviews and do something about them. Just remember that one bad review doesn’t prove it’s a low quality brand.

#2) The treadmill industry is growing more competitive each year. And marketing is a huge portion of the treadmill industry since treadmill manufacturers KNOW you’re going to research treadmill ratings before you buy.

So while I’m not making any accusations, I have read ‘customer reviews’ that are clearly NOT written by the average buyer. They sound like they’re written by somebody working for the competition – someone well versed in the art of sales psychology and who knows more about treadmills than the average person. Again, not making any accusations here – just keep this in mind when reading user ratings online.

Rule of Thumb: Use common sense. If it sounds like it’s written by a treadmill salesperson, take the treadmill review with a grain of salt.

Expert Treadmill Ratings:

There are also expert treadmill ratings. These are the ratings written by the experts in the fitness industry. People like Consumer Reports, Runner’s World, Consumer Guide, Men’s Health, Prevention Magzine are just a few out there. These people rate and review various treadmills at different times of the year.

While these ratings are much less likely to be tainted by biased reviewers, here are a few cautions to keep in mind while reading them:

#1) Each rater has a different rating system and may rate treadmills on such factors as price, cushioning, stability, quietness, belt area, warranty, console, electronics, programs, incline and quality of parts.

So while one reviewer may put more emphasis on cushioning the other may put more emphasis on warranty. It’s nothing to get confused over – just understand that different experts value different features. If you look around you can usually find an area where they list exactly how they rated the treadmills and which features they valued highly in their review.

#2) Expert ratings also usually don’t have time to look at EVERY treadmill brand on the market. Nobody does. We’ve been reviewing treadmills for over 3 years and we still haven’t covered all the brands.

So just because a certain brand isn’t in the ratings, doesn’t make it a poor quality brand. Try to find other reviews on a brand if you can’t find it in your favorite expert ratings list.

One last thing: Many treadmill ratings are also based on comparison to other similarly priced treadmills on the market.

So if you have a $1000 treadmill that gets 5 stars – that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better than a $2000 treadmill that gets 4 stars. It means that compared to other $1000 treadmills it is one of the best values.

By knowing these things when sifting through treadmill ratings, you’re less likely to be confused. And it will be easier to choose the best quality treadmill suitable for your needs.
